Midland’s annual Community Colors Run will see thousands of participants doused with neon color as they run or walk the course on Sunday, September 11.
The event kicks off at 3:00 pm on the campus of Northwood University and features a 5K run/walk, a 1 mile fun run/walk and a special color obstacle course for kids constructed by local Boy Scouts and sponsored by Members First Credit Union.
This year, the event will also feature a special tribute by local first responders to commemorate the 15 year anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. “It is a privilege for us at Northwood University to be able to host this event to celebrate healthy living and the power of giving and volunteering in the community, while at the same time honoring our nation’s heroes,” said Rebecca Rekeweg, Corporate and Campus Volunteer Manager.
Each participant in the events will be given a white race T-shirt to be splattered with color along the race routes. Bags of color will be available for purchase for $1 during packet pickup and before the race on race day. In addition, race organizers are partnering with Young Leaders United to help with a personal care drive for the Midland County high school care closets. Participants who bring a donation of a personal care item (i.e. deodorant, lotion, feminine hygiene product, etc.) will receive a free bag of color.
Packet pick up for the race will take place on Saturday, September 10 from 9:00 – 11:00 am at Greater Midland Community Center in the lobby and Sunday, September 11 from noon until 2:30 pm at Northwood University.
