Juan Guerra Appointed to Community Tennis Association USTA Midwest Committee

Tuesday, March 29, 2022

Greater Midland is proud to announce the appointment of Tennis Center Professional, Juan Guerra, to the Community Tennis Association (CTA) USTA Midwest Committee. This is an honor that is earned through dedication, knowledge, and passion.

Juan Guerra, born in Colombia, grew up in Midland and holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Denison University. There, he was captain and number one singles and doubles on the collegiate tennis team. Guerra also played a major role in winning the Division 2 Tennis State Title in 2009 for the Dow High Varsity Tennis Team as number one singles. In 2019, Guerra was named Assistant Coach of the Year by the Michigan High School Tennis Coaches Association as the Dow High Varsity Assistant Tennis Coach. Juan has a major impact as a Tennis Professional at the Greater Midland Tennis Center and in the community.

The goal of the CTA Committee is to build a culture within the Section that supports a strong partnership between the Midwest and our CTAs. In the Midwest, there is reliance on our CTAs to recognize our strategy (Innovate, Promote, and Grow Tennis) and achieve our directives. Tennis begins and grows in the community; having a community that encourages tennis is what keeps players involved with the sport throughout their lifetime. CTAs program, market, and deliver tennis to our community. By being a part of this committee, Guerra will have more tools and support to effectively deliver tennis programming to our Greater Midland community.

Juan Guerra, Tennis Professional at the Greater Midland Tennis Center.

“I look forward to expanding my network and furthering my expertise to help me become a stronger professional and better help me serve the tennis community in Midland… The CTA Committee is looking to better understand and get closer to organizations like ours in order to help us grow the game of tennis whether it be through grants, guidance or whatever else they can help with,” said Guerra.
