As a volunteer at the Dow RunWalk since the 1980s, Carolyn Agee Hunter said she’s seen the benefits not only for herself, but also for her Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority.
“I am so thankful for the Dow RunWalk. This event has allowed me to meet and network with other organizations in the Midland community. As part of my sorority’s target on health, we are able to partner with the Greater Midland Community Center to encourage others to stay healthy,” Carolyn said.
It takes more than 250 volunteers from dozens of businesses, foundations and the community at large to put on one of biggest races in the Great Lakes Bay Region. This year’s event is May 19 and more volunteers are still needed to make it a success, organizers say.
Carolyn typically volunteers at the refueling station and loves encouraging racers to hydrate and eat a healthy snack after the race.
“I keep coming back because this is one of the most organized races in the state of Michigan. It’s an excellent event for the city,” she said.
