It’s never too late to start your health journey

Mary Myers started to get serious about her health and wellness in her 70s. Now 75, Mary has been active at the Greater Midland Community Center for one year. She is already known by many of the staff as she is very dedicated, coming five days a week.

Mary is regular in her routine, starting at 8:00am each day. She spends her first 90 minutes in the Wellness Center using many cardio machines as well as resistance training machines.  She then spends much time in the Barstow Shipps Wing of the 50 + Center working on puzzles.

On Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays she ends her routine at the Community Center by participating in a senior group exercise class.

When asked what made her want to start being involved at the Community Center she said, “I needed to exercise! I didn’t do much exercise before age 75, but to help my past injuries, it’s what I needed to do.” She says her involvement here has changed her life in a positive way. “I love it. I feel so much better since starting to exercise.”

Mary plans to continue coming daily to the Community Center to continue on her healthy lifestyle.
